Cornish Pasty

Ingredients

  • pastry for double pie
  • 1.5 lb beef (steak or chuck)
  • 3 med. potatoes
  • 2 med. onions
  • 1/2 med. rutabaga

Directions

  1. Cut shortening into flour and salt and add water. Refrigerate.
  2. Cut meat in small pieces. Peel and dice vegetables.
  3. Roll a piece of dough to size of a medium pie plate. 
  4. Put filling in centre and season. Pull pastry over top and seal at edges.
  5. Prick at 2 or 3 places with a fork.
  6. Bake at 325 F for 1 hour.
