Braised Steak Au Poivre

Ingredients

  • 2 braising steaks (used top sirloin before)
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 t peppercorns crushed
  • 1 T oil
  • 1 t flour
  • 1 garlic
  • 8 fl oz red wine
  • 2 T cream
  • garlic salt

Directions

  1. Heat oil in frying pan with lid. Fry onion 5 mins.
  2. Mix peppercorns with flour and coat meat.
  3. Remove onion, turn heat up and sear meat on both sides. Turn heat down, add all ingredients except cream and simmer very gently for 1.25 to 1.5 hours depending on steak thickness. When cooked remove lid and turn heat up to get sauce to good consisitency. Add cream until blended.
  4. Serve with mashed potatoes!
